Saturday 31 July 2021 The London Festival of Bells

After a break of many months because of the pandemic and social distancing, bell ringers from across London took part in the London Festival of Bells on Saturday. In the City of London, the bells of 18 churches were rung as well as those of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Carillon at All Hallows by the Tower.

13:30 – 14:30 The 12 bells at St Giles-without-Cripplegate, Barbican

For the Ancient Society of College Youths ringing at St Giles' on Saturday, it was good to ring again although they felt they were out of practice and didn’t succeed in ringing a quarter-peal! Now bell ringing is back on the agenda hopefully this will soon be remedied! They also rang the next day before the 10.00 Parish Eucharist Service and we look forward to this becoming a regular feature again on Sunday mornings.
